LURF GALLERY will be hosting a group exhibition of works by talented artists entitled "CONCERTO II" on the second floor.
This is the second time the exhibition has been held, following the first in 2023, and will feature seven new artists. This group exhibition will focus on talented artists who are passionate about pure art while facing themselves, and who have their own unique expressions and worldviews.
This exhibition will bring together a total of 23 works, mainly new works by each artist.
Along with the beauty and energy of the works, you will feel the "life" and "soul" that breathes through them all, and the soloists, who usually perform independently, will perform a "concerto" in harmony and contrast. Please come and see. The exhibition will run from Saturday, December 21, 2024 to Monday, January 20, 2025.
■ Participating artists: Yukino Yamanaka / Aiku Kurotaki / Naho Tatsumi / Ryunosuke Okazaki / Thorben Eggers / cocoro nakaura / Sablo Mikawa

Artist Profile

Yukino Yamanaka
He has focused on both the physical contours of humans and their phenomenal state, depicting amorphous, inhuman beings that squirm between them. Since his early days, he has consistently used human figures as a motif, and his style has shifted from concrete drawings to abstract works using random strokes. Blank spaces lacking information, like blown-out highlights, liquids flowing lazily between bodies, and egotistical expressions and poses reminiscent of selfies or artist photographs. Depicting these elements as if they are blending into the entire canvas, he captures the process of transformation from "I" to "something," revealing us as incomplete beings that are breaking away from our traditional image of humanity.
Born in Nagano Prefecture in 1999
Graduated from Kyoto University of the Arts Graduate School in 2023. Currently based in Tokyo and Kanagawa.

Ryunosuke Okazaki |
Okazaki has been active in the fashion scene as a designer, holding runway shows in September 2021 and March 2022 and being selected as a finalist for the LVMH Prize 2022. Born in Hiroshima Prefecture, Okazaki creates with a sense of the history and nature of the city where he was born and raised. Okazaki says that for him, creating his works is similar to rituals and acts of prayer that pay homage to that history and nature. Okazaki's creative style, which is not bound by the frameworks of fashion or art, uncovers new possibilities for art in the contemporary era.

Combining traditional oil painting techniques with digital image processing, he creates new visual effects through the use of AI to manipulate photographs. Sablo Mikawa
Sablo learned oil painting in elementary school. Influenced by early modern and modern painting, he paints contemporary things, emotions, and stories using expansive expressions and homages. The faces and bodies of the people Sablo paints are given grotesque effects, emphasizing their distinct characters, inner selves, and silhouettes, which are different from those of living people. These effects come from Sablo's deepest love of Western painting, film, music, and manga, which he samples and incorporates into his works in order to express the things and emotions that resonate with the eyes of modern people.
