We are pleased to announce that we will be holding a solo exhibition by artist Iori Nagashima, "TULIP," on the second floor of LURF GALLERY.
Using photography and video as a guide, Iori Nagashima pursues the realism that only painting can provide, creating works that visualize memories and emotions. In this exhibition, he will present new works that explore childhood memories, life and death, the ambiguity of memory, and the temporality of images. He will also exhibit a large-scale work measuring 200cm, venturing into large-scale expression.
Please come and enjoy the works and feel the flow of time and the shapes of memories that are embodied in them.
In addition, to coincide with this exhibition, original Nagashima Iori x LURF GALLERY merchandise will be sold at the venue and on the website. The exhibition will run from Friday, March 7, 2025 to Monday, April 14, 2025.

statement
The exhibition title "TULIP" is based on a childhood memory. I have a vivid memory of going for a walk to a cemetery to see tulips. I loved flowers, so I would go to the cemetery to see them. I don't know if this memory is true, but it is very important to me, and it is engraved clearly and deeply in my memory.
At the time, I perceived cemeteries as places where flowers bloom, but looking back now, I think I was drawn to the contrast between cemeteries, which are places that symbolize death, and beautiful flowers. This memory and the word "TULIP" often come to mind when I paint, and they make me question my views on life and death, their contradictions, and their reality.
The works in this exhibition were created under the influence of such memories, and using the studio as a stage, I considered images, memories, and reality, attempting to express something fresh, more concrete, and ambiguous.
