LURF GALLERY is pleased to present artist Tanizaki Isshin's solo exhibition, "Creation of Image."

Tanizaki Isshin continues to paint swirls of color and texture using his unique techniques. In his works, overlapping layers of paint symbolize the accumulation of time and memories, which are excavated through swirling movements and emerge as new images. In this way, past memories and emotions take shape again, expressing new energy.

This exhibition will feature approximately 30 paintings based on these images. The vortex images that emerge on the large canvases will allow viewers to synchronize with the images and create new images as they gaze upon the works for a long time.

In addition, original Tanizaki Isshin x LURF GALLERY T-shirts created for this exhibition will be on sale at the venue and on the website. The exhibition will run from Friday, November 15th to Monday, December 16th, 2024.

statement

Creation of Image

The world I live in may have been born long ago, when a gesture made by someone became the source of power for a certain action, which then shaped the universe.

When I paint, I layer paint on the canvas and then move the brush over it in a swirling motion, and I feel a subtle energy being generated.

The layers of paint are memories of the images I felt, accumulated like strata of the earth. The movement of the vortex eventually mixes the paint and digs up the accumulated layers of paint, revealing various images and taking shape on the canvas.

The energy evoked by an image evokes waves, vortices, and spirals, and manifests into a variety of forms. I believe that the act of imagining is a path that connects us to all things. This time, I have attempted to express the creation of images.
