Lurf MUSEUM is pleased to announce the solo exhibition "Himawari" by artist Kentaro Tanaka.
Kentaro Tanaka is active in a wide range of fields, working on various projects with companies while continuing to create his own artwork and exhibiting it at solo exhibitions both in Japan and overseas. His works are characterized by delicate layers and a melancholy that floats within silence, and his depictions of dignified plants and animals have captured the hearts of many people.
In this exhibition, "Himawari," Tanaka Kentaro expresses his desire to fully depict life, even as he is tossed about by his daily thoughts and emotions. By incorporating the fear and beauty he feels from every living thing he sees, as well as fragments of his thoughts, into his works, it feels as if he is creating a faraway world. The works on display are a fusion of his own inner world and the outside world, born from the time and experiences he has lived. Please enjoy the world of Tanaka Kentaro's work, which was born from picking up fragments of his daily thoughts.
In addition, original Kentaro Tanaka x Lurf MUSEUM merchandise created for this exhibition will be sold at the venue and on the website. The exhibition will run from Friday, August 2nd to Monday, September 2nd, 2024.

statement
Daily
I spend my days chasing after thoughts and emotions that change every day.
In that context, I want to fully depict life. Whatever the motif, I want to put all the emotions I can feel into it, such as the fear and beauty I feel in living things.
When I'm painting, I can't go anywhere, so perhaps I'm painting a faraway world that I've created. The flowers blooming in South America that I saw in an illustrated book and the flowers blooming in my garden pass through my body and are born in this small studio.
I believe that the painting before my eyes is the result of all the time I have spent. These works were born from collecting the fragments of thoughts that appear and disappear every day.
I want to continue to record these days.
