LURF GALLERY is pleased to announce the holding of artist Mayu Tsunoda's solo exhibition "BE HERE NOW" on the first floor.
Mayu Tsunoda is fascinated by vintage toys and objects, collecting them and incorporating them into her artwork. By depicting old objects that were once treasured by others, she finds profound meaning in connecting them to the future, transcending time. Her collection adds depth to the space and enriches everyday scenes, and she sublimates these moments into paintings. She also delicately portrays the atmosphere and ambiance of a place through its unique texture, creating works that leave a quiet yet powerful impression. This exhibition will also feature works depicting the shelves and spaces within the venue, enveloping the entire gallery in her unique worldview. Enjoy a special moment where art and space become one.

statement
In this exhibition, I have depicted casual scenes such as the corner of a room or a shelf where my collection is displayed. By being displayed, they exist in that place and make the ordinary scenery beautiful. I find this irresistibly attractive. I hope that through this exhibition, this space and my works will blend together, creating a comfortable place for you.

Mayu Kakuda
Graduated from the Department of Information Design at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Currently works as a designer and illustrator at Enlightenment, and also works as a freelance painter.
He is attracted to the texture of vintage kitschy toys and objects, and collects them himself, incorporating them into his artwork.
