LURF GALLERY 1F is pleased to announce the holding of an exhibition by artist Towa Takaya entitled "Until the Raindrops Become Flowers and Dance in the Air."
Takaya Towa explores the ways in which he senses the energy of the universe and nature and expresses it through his body in his artworks.
Taking cherry blossoms as a motif, the work depicts the story that resides in this small moment: raindrops staining the earth, being absorbed by the cherry tree, becoming flowers, and then riding the wind into the sky, quietly circulating in a large circle.
In addition, original Takaya Towa x LURF GALLERY merchandise will be sold at the venue and on the website to coincide with the exhibition. The exhibition will run from Thursday, March 13, 2025 to Monday, April 21, 2025.

statement
Raindrops turn into flowers and float in the air.
For me, creativity transcends the act of drawing; it is the act of sensing the energy that gives birth to the Earth and even the universe on a daily basis, and making it present through my own body in the form of artwork. The great circulation of energy, the great nature (jinen) that surrounds us, is not simply beautiful; it is a grand and awe-inspiring phenomenon that at times seems to swallow up our very lives. Last year's solo exhibition, "It Calls: Shades of Innocence," presented a viewing space comprised of two-dimensional works that allowed viewers to feel the beauty and awe of this dynamism. Given the opportunity to meet with you all again this year, I wanted to create an exhibition that would allow viewers to experience last year's exhibition from a different perspective.
I create colors every day in order to convey the purity of existence. In my sunlit studio, there are times when a single speck of pigment remaining on the tip of my finger sparkles. The sparkle makes me stop what I'm doing and stare at the glittering speck, and I realize that even in the smallest of things, something far-reaching resides. I wondered what the story of that tiny thing is, and what an exhibition that would allow people to reflect on it.
In this seasonal exhibition, I depict cherry blossoms as a phenomenon of life. Looking at the cherry blossoms with a microscopic gaze, one can see the story of how life took shape in each petal. A single drop of rain falls from the sky, seeps into the soil, is absorbed by the cherry tree, becomes a flower, leaves the tree with the wind that rustles the branches, and begins its journey. It eventually reaches the sky (SORA) and returns to something bigger once again; I want to depict such a small thing.
Just as a single flower contains a whole world, each of us humans contains a whole world.
I hope you will ponder this mystery.
